I'm going to be real with you all for a second. I'm a normal person who just likes things to be quick, easy and effective. Don't we all?

So why is it that we feel compelled to own a million brushes to do our makeup? I'm not saying I don't own a million brushes because I definitely own a fair few, but why do we feel that we need all of these tools to create a look that is meant be effortless and sexy?

Obviously I'm talking about a Smokey eye. I thought calling the look 'sexy' was a dead giveaway!

Using pressed or loose eye shadows calls for brushes to help blend and shape the look but using creams means you can use your fingers to build depth. I love using cream pots or shadow sticks that I can rub over my eyelid, blend using my finger and know that even though I didn't put an eyeshadow primer down the look will last all night, or day, you know whenever you decide to wear a Smokey eye.

Here I used the By Terry Ombré Blackstar in Bronze moon all over my eyelid and used just a single finger to diffuse the colour. Be careful with that dirty finger afterwards though, I always manage to touch something afterwards without cleaning the product off. It can be super messy!

Sorry I forgot that I was meant to be talking about the pros to not using brushes not the cons.

The pros being that I can do a whole eye look in 5 minutes when I use a cream, I don't get annoying fall out like I do with my powder shadows and when I go travelling I don't need to carry a million brushes with me for one eye look.

Converted you all yet? Don't worry you'll do it one day!
