Vitamin C... What can't this amazing antioxidant do?

One.. it helps fight of the dreaded cold and flu virus and two (which is probably more important) it has incredible skincare benefits!

This powerful antioxidant works extremely well at repairing collagen, which is why it is considered a powerhouse ingredient for anti-ageing. It is also a skin saviour when it comes to lightening pigmentation, whether from hormonal changes, sun damage or post acne marks, vitamin C helps with everything! As well as having a tremendous amount of reparative qualities, vitamin C also works to protect the skin from pollution, that causes pre mature ageing.

Another product you should always use when applying vitamin C is sunscreen. Uv rays darken pigmentation making it more stubborn to remove, so remember to always apply an spf during the day so you don't waste the effects of your vitamin C.

Vitamin C is definitely not a new ingredient to the cosmetic world but it has been getting bigger and bigger as of late. More brands have caught on to this amazing ingredient and it is making it a little harder to navigate which products work best.

That is why I have helped short list my 3 favourite Vitamin C products to hopefully make your search for vitamin C a little easier!

This 15% vitamin C cream combined with palm oil (high in vitamin E) is to be used at night straight after cleansing and is meant to be applied all of the face for its anti-ageing and brightening benefits. It works like magic at lightening my post acne marks, but as this product is a little bit on the pricier side, I stinge out and apply this only over any areas that I need evening out. You do feel an instant tightening effect (could also be confused with a dry sensation) once applied all over but I kind of like that feeling of an instant face lift!

The C-Firma Day serum is formulated with 15% vitamin C and works with fruit enzymes and peptides to revitalise dull and lifeless skin to reveal a brighter and more hydrated appearance. This powerful day serum is meant to be applied in the morning before moisturiser and sunscreen to protect against pollution and Uv Damage. The creator of Drunk Elephant Tiffany Masterson, often suggests on her frequent Instagram Q&A's, to mix the C-Firma serum with her Marula Oil, Umbra Sunscreen and B-Hydra Gel Moisturiser in the morning for optimum results. I did feel my skin looked more radiant during the day while using this serum and I felt the instant tightening effect just like I did with Perricone's Prouct.

This serum truly is a power dose of vitamin C! It is formulated with 3 types of vitamin C which gives the serum its whopping 20% potency. This can be used day and night, mixed with a moisturiser or sunscreen just like the C-Firma from Drunk Elephant. Out of all of the treatments I felt this was the lightest feeling on the skin. I didn't feel the instant tightening effect as I did with The Perricone and Drunk Elephant products but the results were visibly as good as both.

All up, these three alternative vitamin C treatments all do exactly what they claim to and are all eligible competitors to me. There is probably plenty more amazing products out there, so if I come across any other wonder C's I'll let you know!
