If you guessed Stormtrooper you are sorely mistaken. This is actually Neutrogena's Light Therapy Acne Mask!

Everyone loves sheet masks for the benefits they give our skin, but they are probably loved more because of how fun they are to wear - this mask is no exception. Instead of the traditional type of masks that we are all used to, this one is a hard plastic kind that just slips on to the face like a pair of glasses and is lined with LED lights in blue - to kill acne causing bacteria and red - for healing and inflammation.

Light therapy or LED treatment for the skin, has been an effective and proven way to help treat acne. Dermatologists have been using light therapy for years as an extra step in helping diminish and heal acne, and even aid the symptoms of rosacea. While this version of LED treatment isn't as powerful as what dermatologists would use; it does deliver similar results as it can be used consistently at home.

Neutrogena - compared to other at home devices - offers a dramatically lower price tag at just $35, treats the full face at once, while also being hands free. Other products such as Tria and Silk'n blue range from $140-$400 and only treat one area at a time and are not hands free which can be time consuming and honestly a little annoying. I like that I am able to slip this mask on and watch tv or go on my computer while it does its job, where as an in office LED treatment has me lying down with goggles on not being able to move for 20 minutes! I don't know about you but I just can't sit still for that long.

A study produced by neutrogena showed that 98% of users showed fewer breakouts and 90% had a reduction in red, inflammatory acne in just a matter of 12 weeks. I can safely say after using this mask for a few weeks I have seen an incredible improvement in my skin. I have not gotten a sore pimple since using this mask and post breakout marks are healing unimaginably quicker than normal.

I apply this mask after I cleanse my skin at night and use it for the prescribed 10 minutes - it automatically turns off after 10 minutes - then apply my night serum and moisturiser. This is an extra treatment step and not something I think would work just on its own as a cure for acne.

So whether or not you think the mask looks like a replica of Jason's mask in Friday the 13th, I truly believe by adding this extra step into my routine has made a world of difference but by no means am I a dermatologist, so if you have any concerns please talk to a specialist!
